Fear of flying
Fear of flying hypnotherapy in Bournemouth
Look forward to the holiday, the wedding abroad or the business trip, and board the plane feeling settled. One-to-one hypnotherapy and NLP with me, Tim Dunton, in Bournemouth or online.

Long before take-off
For a nervous flyer, the trip starts going wrong weeks ahead. You hesitate over the booking, your stomach turns when the departure date comes up in conversation, and the night before is spent awake. Then comes the airport, the queue at the gate, the sound of the doors closing, the climb and every bump along the way. Whether you fly from Bournemouth Airport, Southampton or Heathrow, the pattern is the same, and it is a learned response. What the mind has learned, it relearns, and that is exactly where I begin.
How I work on a fear of flying
Your first session starts with the detail: which part of the journey grips you most, what you picture, what you tell yourself, and when it all began. From there I bring together hypnosis and NLP in a plan built around your trip.
- The NLP fast phobia technique. You replay the old fear in a detached, distant way, then run it in reverse, and the emotional charge drains out of it. Clients describe the memory as flat and far away afterwards.
- Reworking the pictures. Fear lives in how vividly you imagine things going wrong. I show you how to shrink, dim and redirect those images until the flight in your mind feels ordinary.
- An anchor for calm. You build a strong, settled feeling and link it to a simple gesture, ready for check-in, take-off and any turbulence.
- Rehearsing the whole journey. In hypnosis you travel from packing your case to stepping out at your destination, calmly and comfortably, again and again, until the real trip feels familiar.
- Self-hypnosis for the day. A short routine you use in the departure lounge and in your seat to stay relaxed for the whole flight.
A fear of flying often travels with other fears, such as heights or enclosed spaces. If that sounds like you, see phobia hypnotherapy, and if the fear began with a particular experience, regression therapy works on that root.

Questions
My flight is soon. Is there still time?
Get in touch straight away. I plan the sessions around your departure date and focuses on the parts of the journey that matter most to you.
Do I need to go near a plane during the sessions?
All the work happens in the session room or online. Your imagination does the travelling, and the first real flight is the one you've booked.
What about turbulence?
I give you a calm response to rehearse for bumps and noises, so turbulence becomes something you notice, breathe through and let pass.
I've avoided flying for years. Where do I start?
With the free consultation. I listen to the whole story, explain the plan and help you choose a trip to look forward to.
Can I do this online?
Yes. Online sessions by video follow the same plan as sessions in Bournemouth. You just need a quiet room and a comfortable chair.
Or call 07975 653893. Tell me where you're flying and when, in a free 15–30 minute call.
