The gap between training and match day

In practice it flows. On the first tee, at the start line or walking out for a county fixture, something tightens. The swing gets careful, the legs feel heavy at mile eighteen, a dropped catch replays for the rest of the innings. Your skill is all still there; your attention has simply moved to the wrong place. Sports hypnosis trains that attention, so the player you are in training turns up when it matters.

Who I work with

  • Golfers chasing a lower handicap, a club championship or calmer putting on the courses around Bournemouth, Poole and the New Forest
  • Runners preparing for a 10K, a half or a full marathon, including those long seafront miles between Boscombe and Sandbanks
  • Club and county players in cricket, football, rugby, tennis, hockey and more
  • Competitive athletes heading into a season, a selection event or a championship, or returning after injury

How I train the mental game

  1. Mapping your best. Using NLP modelling, I draw out exactly what you see, hear and feel on your best days, so that state becomes something you repeat by design.
  2. Mental rehearsal in hypnosis. You rehearse the round, the race or the match in rich detail: the warm-up, the pressure moments, the finish. Your mind treats it as experience, and the real thing feels familiar.
  3. A performance anchor. You link your focused, confident state to a simple cue, ready to fire on the tee, at the crease or in the tunnel.
  4. Pre-performance and reset routines. Short routines that fit your sport's rhythm, so you settle quickly before each shot or point and let mistakes go straight away.
  5. Self-hypnosis. A brief daily practice that keeps the work sharp through the season.

Your coach leads on technique and tactics, and my work sits alongside theirs, so the mental side and the training plan pull in the same direction.

Sessions around your season

Most athletes choose the 7-hour course, usually five sessions spaced around training and fixtures, with time after each event to review and refine. Sessions are in person in Bournemouth (BH8) or online by video, which suits early starts and away weekends. Every session is with me personally, and you'll walk into competition feeling settled, focused and ready.

Fees: £195 an hour in person, £150 an hour online, or the 7-hour course at £975 in person and £750 online. See fees, and begin with a free 15–30 minute consultation.

Questions

I'm a club player, not a professional. Is this for me?

Absolutely. The mental game matters at every level, and I tailor the work to your sport, your standard and your goals.

When in the season should I start?

Pre-season is ideal, as it gives you time to embed routines before fixtures begin. I also work with athletes mid-season and ahead of a single big event.

Will hypnosis take the edge off my competitiveness?

The opposite. You stay just as driven, with your nerves channelled into sharp focus and energy.

Can sessions be online around my training?

Yes. Online sessions by video fit neatly around training, travel and work, and follow the same approach as sessions in Bournemouth.

Do you work with golfers on putting?

Yes. Putting is a favourite: I help you build a calm, repeatable routine and a quiet mind over the ball.
